Bolivia's Morales visits Castro

HAVANA, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Bolivian President Evo Morales made a one-day stop in Havana to visit ailing Cuban President Fidel Castro.

Morales, who was in Havana Wednesday, was greeted at the airport by acting Cuban leader Raul Castro, Vice President Carlos Lage and Foreign Minister Felipe Perez, La Razon newspaper reported Thursday.

The leftist Bolivian leader said that Bolivians had extended their sympathy for Castro, who is recovering from gastro-intestinal surgery.

Morales reportedly returned to Bolivia later Wednesday.
