P.M.: India makes its own nuclear decision

NEW DELHI, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- India's prime minister says the country will make its own decisions about maintaining a nuclear arsenal.

Manmohan Singh also said the country would not be influenced by any laws passed by the U.S. Congress, the Press Trust of India reported.

"In this uncertain world, unpredictable world we have legitimate concerns," Singh said.

His remarks Thursday followed a day-long debate in the Parliament on India's nuclear agreement with the United States.
