Snow has been critical of Bush

WASHINGTON, April 26 (UPI) -- Fox News pundit Tony Snow, who takes over as White House Press Secretary, has not spared the administration in his past writings.

In one of his columns, the 50-year-old Snow argued that President Bush's White House had lost its verve and direction in his second term, reports The New York Times.

In a November column, posted on Townhall.com, Snow was quoted as saying Bush's "wavering conservatism has become an active concern among Republicans, who wish he would stop cowering under the bed and start fighting back against the likes of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Joe Wilson. The newly passive George Bush has become something of an embarrassment."

The Times reported that President Bush picked Snow because he has worked extensively in the media including newspapers, radio, television as well as government. Snow was the director of the speechwriting team for former President George H.W. Bush.

The current White House expects Snow, widely respected in conservative circles, to use his television skills to better project the administration's policies.
