Aruba makes arrest in missing girl case

ORANJESTAD, Aruba, April 18 (UPI) -- Police on the Caribbean island of Aruba have arrested a man in connection with the 2005 disappearance of a young Alabama woman.

The Aruban newspaper Diario identified the detainee as 19-year-old Geoffrey van Cromvoirt, the brother of a policewoman. He was arrested Sunday and was to appear in court Tuesday, CNN reported.

Natalee Holloway, 18, was an honors student from Mountain Brook, Ala., who disappeared last year on the final night of a high school class trip to the Dutch Caribbean island. She was last seen early May 30 leaving an Oranjestad nightclub, with three young men, two of them brothers from Surinam.

The three men were arrested in June and later released after a court in the Dutch Caribbean island ruled there was insufficient evidence to hold them. The brothers were re-arrested, but freed from jail in September.
