The Chinese official this week called for settlement of Iran's nuclear problem through diplomatic channels, especially between Iran and Europe.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to discuss the Iranian nuclear situation Monday with Mohammad ElBaradei, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency. They also have urged diplomatic settlement to the nuclear problem.

In Tehran, Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani said in a sermon Friday that "the world of arrogance" is lying to the world about Iran's access to nuclear technology in a bid to weaken the world of Islam.
