CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Millionaire adventurer Steve Fossett plans to begin his epic solo distance and duration flight Wednesday after a fuel leak scrubbed takeoff Tuesday.
"The next launch attempt will be made on the morning of Wednesday the 8th, at between 06:41 and 07:06 local time (11:41 to 12:06 UTC)," Fossett said on his Web site, VirginAtlanticGlobalFlyer.com.
The fuel leak was discovered just 25 minutes before Fossett was to begin his journey from the Kennedy Space Center runway in Cape Canaveral, Fla.
Fossett, the first man to circumnavigate the globe alone in a balloon, hopes to pilot the ultra-light experimental plane 27,012 miles in 80 hours, landing near London. He competed the first non-stop solo world-circling airplane flight in 67 hours last March.
The current longest non-stop flight aviation record was set in 1986 by Voyager pilots Dick Rutan and Jeanna Yeager.
