Microsoft's Gates sees new digital world

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates says the New Year will see consumer electronic devices seamlessly complementing one another.

Gates, who spoke Wednesday at the International Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, unveiled a number of products to feed the growing appetite for digital entertainment, reports The Washington Post.

"Technology has revolutionized how we listen to music, watch TV, play games, communicate and manage and share personal information," he said. "2006 is going to be a big year for the digital lifestyle," Gates said.

Among the products he unveiled was a computerized wall easel that can show TV images, keep track of family members and interact with an office computer. He also showed a phone that can make calls over standard phone lines and calls using voice over Internet protocol technology.

His speech did not touch on how his company is addressing the latest Windows security flaw or the growing threat from Google, the Post reported.
