TSA cutting back on screeners in Atlanta

ATLANTA, April 12 (UPI) -- The manager of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta said the Transportation Security Administration wants to cut 400 screeners from his staff.

Hartsfield General Manager Ben DeCosta told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he is "very worried" after meeting with Willie Williams, Atlanta's federal security director. He said Williams told him of the cuts, which "would be disastrous for customer service, the hassle factor and crowding at the world's busiest airport."

TSA spokesman Christopher White said the federal agency is working to meet a congressional mandate limiting the number of security screeners in the country to 45,000.
