Firebombs found near Japanese exec's home

TOKYO, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Two Molotov cocktails were left outside the home of the chairman of Fuji Xerox, Mainichi Shimbun reported Tuesday.

A passer-by reportedly found the two firebombs in shrubs near the entrance of Yotaro Kobayashi's Tokyo home Sunday.

One of the bottles, which reportedly contained oil, was broken. Both were stuffed with cloths which appeared to have been lit, police said. No injures were reported.

Police are searching for the suspects, who face charges of violating Japan's law against petrol bombs.

A right-wing group recently directed a propaganda campaign against Kobayashi, who heads a private group for Japan-China friendship, after he asked Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi not to visit Yasukuni Shrine last September. The shrine honors Japan's war dead from World War II, but also includes several convicted war criminals.

Police said they were investigating a possible connection between the group and the firebombs.
