Israeli government in party negotiations

JERUSALEM, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Israel's Labor Party executive committee has agreed to begin coalition talks with the Likud Party.

In addition, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was meeting Sunday with Shas chairman Eli Yishai to invite the Orthodox party to also join the coalition, the Ha'aretz news agency reported.

Sharon has appointed Acting Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and Coalition Chairman Gideon Sa'ar to negotiate with Labor. Negotiations with United Torah Judaism are also expected.

Sharon said negotiations should end quickly and he wants to present the new government to the Knesset next Monday.
