MOSCOW, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Russia is concerned over terrorists' attempts to gain political influence, President Vladimir Putin said Friday.
The Russian president said he was worried that terrorist groups would continue to try and influence the political situations in different countries, Putin said according to an Interfax news agency report.
"We were concerned earlier and are still concerned now over attempts of terrorists to influence a political situation in this or that country using terrorist attacks," Putin said following talks with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero according to the news agency report.
Putin said he had "spoken about this regarding the situation in Spain and also in the course of the election campaign in the U.S.," and "my position has not changed in this respect," Interfax said.
