Official: PA to go to Security Council

GAZA, July 9 (UPI) -- The Palestinian Authority says it plans to urge the U.N. Security Council to endorse the International Court's decision on the Israeli security fence.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, an aide to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, told reporters in Ramallah Friday that if the United States vetoes their proposal, they would take the issue to the U.N. General Assembly.

The court in The Hague said Friday the security wall that Israel constructed in the West Bank violates international law, and called upon Israel to stop building it and compensate Palestinians for the damages it caused.

"The decision is a victory for international right and justice," Abu Rudeineh said. "All parties must respect the decision of the court and work on implementing it."
