Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Leroy Sane helped Manchester City beat Hoffenhiem 2-1 in the Champions League group stage, scoring both goals, including a gorgeous free kick.

He lined up for the free kick from about 30 yards out. He then ran up to the ball and smacked it with his left boot, sending it blazing into the right side of the net, past a diving Oliver Baumann.

"I practice a lot in training," Sane told ManCity.com.

The Sky Blues had several more chances to take the lead before Sane provided another spark in the 61st minute. That play occurred when Raheem Sterling sent a through ball between three defenders, finding Sane in the left side of the box. Sane took two touches before kicking the ball around Baumann for a 2-1 advantage.

Hoffenheim got on the board first in the Group F finale. Andrej Kramaric had that honor by putting in a penalty kick in the 16th minute.

"We had some good moments, we made life hard for ourselves but it was a really good game," Sane said. "I was thinking of whether to shoot or not from the free-kick, it was quite a distance. It was quite lucky."

"We had enough chances in the second half to make the game quiet, I don't know what happened with the three-on-one, I passed it to Bernardo Silva and he had a tap-in ... I wanted an assist!"

The Sky Blues used the comeback effort the win Group F and advance to the round of 16, with the draw slated for Monday in Switzerland.

City battles Everton in the Premier League at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.
