Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Manchester City came away with a Premier League derby victory against Manchester United on Sunday at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England.

David Silva scored the first goal of the Sky Blues' 3-1 victory and City never trailed during the triumph. Bernardo Silva assisted that score in the 12th minute, trapping a cross at the far post. Silva then tapped the ball in front of the net for his teammate to draw first blood.

The Sky Blues took the 1-0 edge into halftime before Sergio Aguero added a second score.

Riyad Mahrez did a quick give-and-go on the right side of the box during that sequence. Aguero put the score in the far post netting by blasting a rip over the head of United keeper David de Gea.

Anthony Martial cut the Sky Blues' lead in half with a penalty kick goal in the 58th minute, but City wasn't finished scoring.

The Skye Blues got their final tally from Ilkay Gundogan. Raheem Sterling sent a pass to Bernardo Silva on the outside of the box during that sequence. Silva lifted a cross to the middle of the box to find Gundogan, who headed in City's third goal in the 86th minute.

"It was very important to score the third goal because at 2-1 it is always a dangerous game," Gundogan told the team website. "The third one killed it because it was so late."
