Melton works as a Christian mom blogger for Momastery and is also a New York Times bestselling author for her memoir Love Warrior.

Wambach and Melton announced their engagement in February. Wambach, 36, retired from international soccer in December after the USWNT's 1-0 loss to China. She is the all-time leading scorer for the national team.

During her tenure, the USWNT won two gold medals at the Olympics and the 2015 World Cup.

"My beloveds -- please never give up on love," Glennon wrote on social media. "Life could surprise the hell out of you. Trust me -- you might just wake up one morning and find yourself smackdab in the middle of heaven. I love my wife. LOVE WINS."

On Monday, Wambach sported a hooded sweatshirt with "Christian Mommy Blogger's wife" written on it.

According to The Knot, Melton was previously married to her ex-husband for 14 years. Wambach was also previously married.

"Feels like the world could use all the love it can get right now. So today, I'm going to share with you my new love," Melton wrote in November in a Facebook post. "Her name is Abby. You might recognize her from soccer. She was one of the best players of all time, and she has been a fierce and committed advocate for women's equality for a decade. And honestly? Those are the least impressive things about her.

Wambach is also an author. She details her former marriage to soccer star Sarah Huffman and her life growing up as a lesbian in the 2016 memoir: Forward.

Melton has three children.

"Abby is deeply sensitive and kind," Melton said in her November post. "The kids call her an M&M because she looks tough on the outside but inside she's really mushy and sweet. Abby's brave. Not just with her words but with her entire being. She has never been afraid to be herself, even when the world told her not to be. I learn from her everyday about the woman I want to become. She is committed to her friends and family. She has this sense of country and honor and chivalry that feels beautiful to me. She cares about the vulnerable -- children and animals especially. She's unwaveringly good to Craig, to the kids, to Sister and to all my people. And oh my God, she is so good to me. She loves me for all the things I've always wanted to be loved for. She's just my favorite. My person."
