BARCELONA, Spain, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Soccer royalty claims its stake on the shortlist of 2015 Puskas Award nominees.
Barcelona's Lionel Messi made the list for his goal against Athletic Bilbao in May's Copay Del Rey final. On the score, Messi takes the ball on his half, then beats a half dozen defenders before ripping a shot into the bottom right corner.
United States striker Carli Lloyd also made the list with a goal she scored against Japan in July's Women's World Cup. Lloyd's immaculate score was on a chip shot from midfield. Lloyd netted a hat trick in the contest.
The list also includes: Fleetwood Town's David Ball, Real Sociedad's Gonzalo Castro, AS Roma's Alessandro Florenzi, Goianesia's Wendell Lira, AC Milan's Philippe Mexes, SC Paderborn 07's Marcel Ndjeng, Sport Herediano's Esteban Ramirez, and Juventus' Carlos Tevez.
