Patriots coach Bill Belichick gets head shaved for charity

March 11 (UPI) -- New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick received a buzzcut from linebacker and barber Brandon King on Thursday to benefit Boston Children's Hospital's "Saving by Shaving" initiative.

The 68-year-old Belichick held up a handful of his hair at one point and joked: "See those gray hairs there? That's from third-and-long."

Belichick also said he hasn't had a haircut like the one King did -- in which scissors weren't used -- since his teenage years.

"Tough job trying to make me look good now," Belichick said. "There used to be more to cut off."

For each person who participates in the "Saving by Shaving" initiative this week, Granite Telecommunications and its CEO, Rob Hale, will donate $5,000 to fund pediatric cancer research at Boston Children's Hospital. The initiative has raised more than $35 million over the last seven years.

Former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and current Boston Red Sox President Sam Kennedy are among the participants from previous years.
