May 24 (UPI) -- New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate voiced confidence in Daniel Jones, saying he hopes the dynamic between the rookie quarterback and Eli Manning is similar to the Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre scenario.

Tate spoke about the Giants' quarterback situation during an appearance Thursday on SiriusXM NFL Radio. Manning, 38, is entering his 16th season. He started all 16 games in 2018 for the Giants. New York opted to select Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft as an eventual replacement for the two-time Super Bowl champion.

The Giants signed Tate to a four-year, $37.5 million contract in March, after trading star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns.

Tate said Jones has a "super-strong arm" and can "move around a little bit." He also said that if Manning misses any time, the Giants wouldn't "miss a beat."

"The good news with Dan's situation is he is sitting right behind a Hall of Fame-type quarterback, so he is going to have an opportunity to learn some incredible tools that can help him in the future," Tate said. "I hope it's kind of like that Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers kind of situation eventually."

Favre won three MVP awards and a Super Bowl with the Packers before the team opted to draft Rodgers with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.

Rodgers sat behind Favre for three seasons before taking over as the full-time starter in 2008. The Packers traded Favre to the New York Jets before the 2008 season.

Favre was 38-years-old -- the same age as Manning -- at the time of the trade. Rodgers went on to two NFL MVP awards, seven Pro Bowl selections, two All-Pro nods and a Super Bowl.
