The New York Giants kept it local on Monday by signing tight end Garrett Dickerson to a contract.

Dickerson attended Bergen Catholic High School, which is 13 miles from MetLife Stadium. He played collegiately at Northwestern, recording 87 receptions for 887 yards and nine touchdowns in 49 games.

The 6-foot-3, 248-pound Dickerson was selected honorable mention All-Big Ten after posting career highs in receptions (37) and yards (401). He also scored four touchdowns.

Dickerson becomes the seventh tight end on the Giants' 90-man roster, joining Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison, among others.

The Giants also waived wide receiver Keeon Johnson and defensive backs Jeremiah McKinnon and Mike Jones.

Johnson was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Giants on May 11, 2017, but suffered a broken foot during training camp and was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 19.

McKinnon was signed to the Giants' practice squad on Nov. 28, and to a reserve/futures contract on Jan. 1 of this year.

Jones was a rookie from Temple who was signed on May 8.
