Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston announces engagement

Quarterback Jameis Winston would like to help the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win a ring in the near future.

This past weekend, Winston gave one away as he proposed marriage to his long-time girlfriend Breion Allen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

For the record, Allen said yes.

Winston referenced the "victory formation" in posting the news for public consumption on Sunday on both his Instagram and Twitter accounts.

"One of the best plays in football just turned into one of the best plays of my life!" the 24-year-old Winston wrote. "You've been with me through everything you could ever imagine but never wavered! Your perseverance and love has taught me how to prioritize, empathize and focus on what truly matters. That's why I had to put your love on TOP! I love you Breezi Boo!"

Allen is expecting the couple's first child, a boy, in early July.

A wedding date has not been announced for the two, who have been linked since their high-school days in Birmingham, Ala. The party could be a lavish one considering the Buccaneers picked up the fifth-year option on Winston for the 2019 season, giving the former top overall pick $20.922 million.

Winston became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 4,000 yards in each of his first two seasons.

He was hampered by a shoulder injury in 2017, limiting him to a career-worst 3,504 passing yards with 19 touchdowns in 13 games.

Winston has completed 939 of 1,544 passes for 11,636 yards with 69 touchdowns and 44 interceptions in 45 career games with the Buccaneers. He has also rushed for 513 yards with eight scores.
