The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Financial terms were not disclosed for Fitzpatrick, who appeared in six games with the Buccaneers last season and went 2-1 as a starter in place of Jameis Winston.

The 35-year-old Fitzpatrick completed 96 of 163 passes for 1,103 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions last season.

Keeping Fitzpatrick in the fold provides insurance behind the 24-year-old Winston, who is still under league investigation for an alleged groping incident. Winston is also recovering from a shoulder injury.

Fitzpatrick started all 16 games for the New York Jets in 2015, establishing career highs with 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns. He started 11 of 14 games with the Jets the following season.

A graduate of Harvard, Fitzpatrick also started all 16 games for the Buffalo Bills in back-to-back seasons (2011-12), one of seven teams with which he has played in his career.

Fitzpatrick has started 119 of 133 games while throwing for 26,991 yards with 173 touchdowns and 136 interceptions with the then-St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Bills, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, Jets and Buccaneers.

He is the lone quarterback in league history to throw four touchdowns in a game with four different franchises (Buffalo, Houston, New York and Tennessee). His 173 passing touchdowns are the most of any Ivy League quarterback, topping Hall of Fame quarterback Sid Luckman (137).
