Reports: Colts to interview Campbell, Reich

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to submit a request to interview New Orleans Saints assistant coach Dan Campbell and Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich for their vacant head coaching position, multiple outlets reported on Wednesday.

Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo could also be included in that mix as Colts general manager Chris Ballard acknowledged Wednesday that his team found it "hard to fit everyone in" while the clubs competed in the playoffs.

"We will get the right leader for the Indianapolis Colts," Ballard said on Wednesday, one day after New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels backed out of a deal to become the Colts' head coach.

Multiple reports have Campbell set to interview with the Colts on Thursday. Reich, who is slated to be at the Eagles' Super Bowl parade on that day, is scheduled for an interview on Friday.

Campbell, who served as the interim head coach in Miami in 2015, has spent the last two seasons with the Saints as assistant head coach and tight ends coach.

Reich served as an offensive assistant, quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach with the Colts from 2008-11. He joined the Eagles when Doug Pederson became head coach in 2016.

While Pederson calls the plays for the Eagles, Reich is credited with playing a significant role in the development of Carson Wentz as well as getting fellow quarterback Nick Foles ready to step up following Wentz's injury. Foles did that and more as he was named the MVP of Super Bowl LII after the Eagles posted a 41-33 win over the Patriots on Sunday.

The reported pursuit of Reich is intriguing on another front since quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to return after missing the entire 2017 season with shoulder issues.
