The Tennessee Titans named Dean Pees as their defensive coordinator and Matt LaFleur as the offensive coordinator, the team announced Tuesday.

"I am excited to add both of these guys to our team," Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said. "Dean brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to our staff. I have seen first-hand how he teaches and develops from our time together and I wanted to bring that same experience to our players here."

Pees was the New England Patriots' linebackers coach when Vrabel played there. The 68-year-old most recently served as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens over the past six seasons before briefly retiring on Jan. 1.

Last season, the Ravens defense led the NFL with 34 takeaways. It ranked in the top 10 in total defense in three of Pees' six seasons with Baltimore.

LaFleur, 38, joins the Titans after spending one year as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, who ranked first in the NFL in scoring and 10th in total offense en route to securing their first playoff appearance since 2004.

"Matt brings an energy and an offensive diversity to our team," Vrabel said. "He is going to develop an offense that puts our players in position to have success. Matt has worked with some great offensive minds, helped game plan on those staffs and I am looking forward to seeing him take that next step as a play-caller."

Under LaFleur's watch, running back Todd Gurley led the NFL in scrimmage yards (2,093), was second in rushing yards (1,305) and quarterback Jared Goff ranked fifth in passer rating (100.5).

"I'm excited for Matt LaFleur and his family as he transitions to the Titans as offensive coordinator," McVay said in a statement. "We're grateful for his contribution to the Rams and our NFC West championship season last year."

Tennessee finished 23rd in total offense and 19th in scoring offense under then-coach Mike Mularkey and play-calling offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie.
