Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Veteran defensive tackle Arthur Jones is now a member of the Washington Redskins.

Washington announced the signing on Wednesday. The Redskins placed safety Stefan McClure on injured reserve in a corresponding transaction.

Jones, 31, was a fifth round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played his first four seasons with the Ravens, before joining the Indianapolis Colts in 2014. Jones had 30 total tackles last season in eight games for the Colts. Jones won a Super Bowl in 2012 with the Ravens.

The 6 foot 3, 301 pound defender posted several pictures on Wednesday from the Redskins' facility, before the move was officially announced.

"It's official !!!! You're boy is back !!!!" Jones wrote in an Instagram caption. "Let's Goo!!!! #NFL #hardworkpaysoff #8thNFLSEASON #bestversionofme #itrustedtheprocess #faith #myyear #mytime #stillavegan

"I am super excited to be back in the area and very proud to be a @redskins!" Jones added to another Instagram post.

Washington needs depth on its defensive line after losing Jonathan Allen and Matt Ioannidis.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden told reporters Wednesday that he thinks Jones can play immediately.

"Yeah, Arthur, I think, can slide right in," Gruden told reporters. "He played in Indianapolis with Coach [Greg] Manusky, so he's familiar with some of the terminology and all that stuff. He's a fast learner, talking to him out there, he's already got a good grasp of the game."

"Now it's a matter of what kind of shape is he in and I think he's down some pounds, so he looks pretty good. But over the course of five-, six-, eight-play drives, we'll see how he does. We still have a five-man rotation so hopefully we'll be able to keep him fresh."

Washington ranks No. 20 in rushing yards allowed per game.
