Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois is once again a member of the Green Bay Packers.

Packers executive vice president, general manager and director of football operations Ted Thompson announced the signing on Thursday. Jean Francois originally signed with the team on March 24 in free agency. He was released on Sept. 13 after appearing in the team's Week 1 win against the Seattle Seahawks.

Green Bay placed tackle Jason Spriggs on injured reserve in a corresponding move.

Jean Francois, 30, entered in the NFL as a seventh round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2009 NFL Draft. The LSU product spent four seasons with the 49ers before joining the Indianapolis Colts in 2013. He also spent two seasons with the Washington Redskins before joining the Packers this offseason.

The 6 foot 3, 295-pound defensive lineman signed his new deal with the Packers on Wednesday. It's likely a veteran minimum contract for one year and $900,000.

Jean Francois has 164 combined tackles, 12 sacks, 12 passes defended, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 110 career games in the NFL. He has 36 career starts during his nine-year tenure.

A source told the Advocate that the defensive lineman worked out for the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday.

Jean Francois will wear No. 99 in Green Bay. He rejoins the team after defensive tackle Mike Daniels left the Packers' Week 2 loss with a hamstring injury.

"I've got to treat every day walking into this building like it's my last," Francois told ESPN. "So if I'm only here for the week, if I'm only here for the time that Mike is hurt, then so be it. If I've only got to be here for that period of time, I just need to do my job, help these guys out, make sure they're in the right position to do what they've got to do. And if they've got to release me to make more space on the roster, let them so do."

Green Bay also has Montravius Adams, Quinton Dial and Kenny Clark at the position.
