Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Despite the Houston area still dealing with wrath left by Hurricane Harvey, the Jacksonville Jaguars will stay in the city after Sunday's game due to Hurricane Irma's threat to Florida.

"In consideration for the safety of our players, coaches and staff, the Jacksonville Jaguars will remain in Houston following Sunday's game and will reevaluate travel options on Monday morning," the Jaguars said in a statement on Friday.

"We will be thinking of those in our city and throughout Florida and the southeast who will be affected, as well as the first responders who will be working through this storm. We look forward to returning to Jacksonville as soon as possible."

The Jaguars battle the Houston Texans at 1 p.m. Sunday at NRG Stadium.

Hurricane Irma is currently a Category 4 storm. The National Hurricane Center said in its 11 a.m. advisory that the center of the storm was 405 miles southeast of Miami. The storm had a maximum sustained winds of 150 mph at the time of the update and was moving west-northwest at 14 mph.

Hurricane Jose, now a Category 4 storm, trails behind Hurricane Irma. The NHC said in its advisory that Jose was 415 miles east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. It had a maximum sustained wind speed of 150 mph and was moving west-northwest at 18 mph at the time of the update.

The Jaguars host the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 17 at EverBank Field in Jacksonville.
