Houston Texans making Andre Johnson first Ring of Honor member

July 18 (UPI) -- Andre Johnson, one of the best players in Houston Texans history, will be the first member of the team's Ring of Honor this season.

The team announced Tuesday that the two-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowler will officially receive the honor on Nov. 19 at NRG Stadium. Houston hosts the Arizona Cardinals for a noon contest that Sunday in Texas. The halftime ceremony will coincide with the franchise's Homecoming Game, presented by Palais Royal.

Johnson, 36, joined the Texans during their second season in franchise history. He spent 12 seasons with the team, before joining the Indianapolis Colts in 2015 and the Tennessee Titans last season. Johnson signed a one-day contract in April to officially retire as a member of the Texans. He is the franchise leader in receptions (1,012), receiving yards (13,597) and receiving touchdowns (64).

Johnson twice led the league in receiving yards and receptions. He ranks No. 11 in NFL history in both career marks.

The Texans also announced the themes for all of their home games. The team begins their home slate with the State of Football game on August 19 against the New England Patriots and caps off the schedule with a Thank You Fans game on December 25 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Houston is 17-6 at home in the last three seasons during the regular season, after posting a 7-1 mark last year at NRG Stadium.
