J.J. Watt starts menswear line, gifts signature shoes, jabs Big Baller Brand

July 12 (UPI) -- NFL superstar J.J. Watt debuted a new clothing line this week. He also gave a pair of his signature shoes to a self-proclaimed "broke college kid."

The Houston Texans defensive end threw in a subtle shot at the Big Baller Brand for good measure.

The JJ Watt Collection includes six button-downs and a few polo shirts. They are sold exclusively at Mizzen and Main.

"Classic colors, red and blue, of course," Watt said in an ad for the new line. "Texans colors. America's colors."

"Everybody looks for a little bit of uniqueness in their look I think," Watt said in the ad. "We have to wear a suit every game day. So it gives me an opportunity to help customize my own look and also give some things to other guys around the league to wear and then for the everyday guy and going to work. Try to make them a little more stylish."

"Bold but classy," Watt said.

Watt says his company is "all about" red, white and blue.

He named the shirts after the streets that were important in his life. Included are the street names for his grandpa's old house, one he lived on in Houston, one from where his friend lived and where he slept on a bed in his living room, a few from his childhood homes and others.

The button-down options are $145 for long sleeve and $80 for polos.

Watt also debuted his new signature training shoes, the JJ II. The shoes hit stores Friday for $99, according to CBS Sports.

A Twitter user tweeted the All-Pro defensive end about his desire to buy the shoes, but said he was a "broke college kid" so he couldn't afford them.

Watt responded: "We've all been there [yeah, even on scholarship I was on the Ramen diet a time or two]. I got you Gavin, DM me your address."

Another Twitter user asked if Watt's shoes were as expensive as Lonzo Ball's Big Baller Brand signature kicks, which retail for $495. Watt responded: "Yeah man, they're $99. I'm not trying to crush people. We made the best possible shoe we could at the best price point we could."

Reebok also signed Watt's brother's Derek and T.J., according to ESPN. Derek Watt plays for the Los Angeles Chargers, while T.J. Watt was the No. 30 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
