June 29 (UPI) -- Longtime coach Jeff Fisher was very emotional when he announced the news of his firing last season to the Los Angeles Rams' coaching staff.

He was axed by the franchise in December, following the Rams' 42-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. After getting the news, he walked into a meeting room and told his fellow coaches, who would also be losing their jobs after the season.

"Unfortunately, I won't be there this weekend," Fisher said in the video. "I was just fired."

The Rams coaches showed intense reactions after hearing the news.

"So, I appreciate everything you guys have done for this football team and for me," Fisher said as he was holding back his emotions. "And the loyalty that you've shown. Sorry if I let you guys down. You guys haven't let me down. You busted your [expletive] every single day for me."

"I will do whatever I can, to every single one of you. I will be there for you when the season's over. I will recommend you. Call until the end of the night to help you guys find work."

Hall of Fame linebacker-turned Rams defensive assistant Mike Singletary walked up to Fisher and shook his hand first, saying a simple: "thank you."

Fisher, 59, went 31-45-1 in five seasons with the Rams. He never won more than seven games in a season with the franchise. Fisher coached the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans for 17 seasons before departing the franchise in 2011. He went 142-120 during that stop and 5-6 in the playoffs.
