April 13 (UPI) -- All-Pro workhorse running back Adrian Peterson will still be looking for a new team through late April.

The NFL Network reported Thursday that the 32-year-old isn't likely to join a new franchise before the 2017 NFL Draft on April 27. Peterson has had a somewhat quiet offseason since being cut in February. He was previously signed on to play for $18 million in 2017.

Peterson has been linked to several teams over the last two months. He visited the New England Patriots last week following a meeting with the Seattle Seahawks. Peterson will reportedly workout for the New Orleans Saints this week, according to the NFL Network.

CBS Sports also reported that the Detroit Lions are a possible landing spot for the former NFL MVP.

But running back-needy franchises could opt against signing Peterson, who averaged just 1.9 yards per carry last season, in favor of a young prospect such as Dalvin Cook, Leonard Fournette or Christian McCaffrey in the 2017 NFL Draft.

During his last full season in 2015, Peterson earned his fourth All-Pro nod and led the NFL with 1,485 rushing yards.
