March 7 (UPI) -- Bill Belichick's wizardry could land the New England Patriots three first round selections in the next two drafts.

NFL Network's Mike Garofolo reported Tuesday that the Super Bowl champions are allegedly seeking two first-round picks in exchange for backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garofolo suggested one of those first round selections would be for the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Patriots currently hold the No. 32 pick in this year's NFL Draft. A previous Boston Herald report stated that the asking price for Garoppolo was a first and second round selection. The Herald also reported that the Patriots haven't yet received a trade offer "anywhere close" to what the franchise wants in return for the quarterback.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer has also corroborated that sentiment, stating that the Patriots are willing to part with Garoppolo for the right price. This came after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported last week that the Patriots weren't expected to trade the 25-year-old gunslinger.

The Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, and Chicago Bears have all been liked to the quarterback. MMQB's Albert Breer also reported last month that the New Orleans Saints were also a team that could trade for Garoppolo.

The Browns have been the team most linked to be going after Garoppolo. Cleveland owns the No. 1 and No. 12 pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Any trades cannot become official until after the start of the new league year on Thursday, March 9.

Garoppolo is due $820,777 next season with a $75,000 workout bonus. He is a free agent in 2018. The second round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft has completed 63-of-94 passes for 690 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions in 17 career games. He has just two starts in three seasons, but owns two Super Bowl rings.
