March 2 (UPI) -- One of the most recognizable faces in the NFL went unnoticed during a TV interview Thursday.

FOX 26's John Donnelly was asking Houston drivers about road rage when former All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson walked by. Donnelly called over to Peterson and asked him about encounters with angry drivers.

"...You never know how they will react to it," Peterson responded to Donnelly's interview question.

Donnelly asked for the then-unknown man's name and Peterson responded: "Adrian Peterson."

After a brief pause, Donnelly asked: "Wait a minute, you're not..."

"Yeah," Peterson responded.

Donnelly later posted a video of the awkward encounter on his Facebook account.

"Here I am interviewing people on the street and not realizing I'd stopped a celebrity," Donnelly wrote in the caption. "Enjoy the awkwardness!"

Peterson, 31, was notified Wednesday that the Minnesota Vikings would not pick up his 2017 option. The four-time All-Pro should be a hot name when NFL free agency begins on March 9.
