Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Bruce Matthews and Mel Blount could be visiting Heinz Field more often in 2017.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed their sons on Tuesday. Linebacker Akil Blount signed a futures contract with the team. He was an undrafted rookie free agent from Florida A&M before being cut by the Miami Dolphins in the preseason. Offensive lineman Mike Matthews also signed with the team. Matthews was cut last year by the Cleveland Browns after signing as an undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M.

Mel Blount was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time All-Pro during his 14-year career for the Steelers. The defensive back led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 1975. Blount won four Super Bowls with Pittsburgh from 1974 through 1979. Matthews, a fellow Hall of Famer, was a seven-time All-Pro and 14-time Pro-Bowl selection. The offensive lineman played 19 seasons for the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans.

Mike Matthews is also the cousin of Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews.
