SEATTLE, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Quarterback Russell Wilson has been playing with a knee brace since suffering a left MCL sprain in Week 3.

He is contemplating ditching that brace for the Seattle Seahawks' NFC Wildcard playoff game against the Detroit Lions.

"I don't have to keep wearing it," Wilson told reporters Wednesday. "I'm contemplating what we're going to do here."

"My leg is good," Wilson told reporters. "I think it's just more a safety thing. I don't think it's necessarily bad or necessarily have-to or anything like that [to keep wearing the brace]."

Wilson also suffered a high ankle sprain during Week 1. He managed to complete 353-of-546 passes for 4,219 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions this season. He had just one rushing score and ran for a career-low 259 yards.

The Seahawks host the Detroit Lions at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at CenturyLink Field.
