The San Diego Chargers requested to interview Kansas City Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub for their head-coaching vacancy, NFL Network reports.

Toub is also expected to be interviewed by the Denver Broncos, who are seeking a replacement for Gary Kubiak after his retirement.

The 54-year-old coordinator is drawing a "lot of interest," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Toub has spent the last three seasons as the Chiefs' special teams boss after serving in the same role with the Chicago Bears from 2004-12.

Before coaching in Chicago, Toub was a special teams/quality control coach with the Philadelphia Eagles (2001-03), who drafted him as an offensive lineman out of Springfield College with the 231st-overall pick in the ninth round of the 1985 NFL Draft.

Toub was released before the start of the following starting season.

He joined the Los Angeles Rams' training camp for two consecutive seasons after that, but failed to make the team.
