Matt Forte one of several players injured in New York Jets-San Francisco 49ers game

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- New York Jets running back Matt Forte was among a number of players who left Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium with injuries and did not return.

Forte suffered a knee injury in the first quarter. Bilal Powell replaced Forte in the lineup.

Jets reserve safety Marcus Gilchrist suffered an apparent injury to his right knee while covering the kickoff to open the second half. After being examined, he was carted to the locker room. The six-year veteran was injured while trying to make a tackle.

The Jets lost starting cornerback Buster Skrine early in the second quarter and he was evaluated for a concussion. Backup Justin Burris replaced Skrine in the lineup.

Meanwhile, 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith suffered a concussion with 3:22 left in the third quarter and was ruled out. Smith tried a make a leaping catch of a long pass from Colin Kaepernick and landed hard as his head banged against the turf.

Smith was motionless initially after landing. He was examined by doctors on the field and taken by a cart to the locker room. He was able to stand and take a few steps to the cart.

49ers starting tight end Vance McDonald suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Backups tight ends Garrett Celek and Blake Bell filled in for McDonald.

McDonald entered the game with 24 catches for 391 yards and four touchdowns.

49ers starting center Daniel Kilgore left the game with 5:53 left in the first quarter because of a leg injury and his return was ruled out.

Marcus Martin, who started at left guard, moved to center, and Andrew Tiller came off the bench to play left guard.

Regular starting left guard Zane Beadles opened the game at left tackle in place of Joe Staley, who missed the game with a hamstring injury.
