SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Chip Kelly continues to say that Blaine Gabbert has outplayed Colin Kaepernick at San Francisco 49ers practice. But he still could make a swap for his starting quarterback.
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reported Friday that Kaepernick will be the team's starting quarterback Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills.

"Kelly has claimed that Kaepernick wasn't physically ready to play, but the sources say that Kelly appears ready to make a change," Cole reported.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Friday that the 49ers and Kaepernick are "closing in" on a restructured contract. Kaepernick signed a seven-year, $126.97 million contract in 2014. He is due $16.5 million next season.
Kelly said he "did not consider making a change" from Gabbert to Kaepernick Thursday during the 49ers' 33-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

Kaepernick, 28, completed 144-of-244 passes for 1,615 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions last season. Gabbert has completed 87-of-150 passes for 890 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions through five games this season. Gabbert completed 18-of-31 passes for 162 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions Thursday. He also had 10 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Neither quarterback is a great play in fantasy football, but the 49ers' offense could benefit from more big plays. Look for increased value from Carlos Hyde, as the 49ers are not likely to completely lean on Kaepernick in its Week 6 road test.
