CINCINNATI, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- While Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert is back practicing on a limited basis, his exact return date remains unknown.

Eifert is dealing with an ankle injury and is "still working through some things," according to NFL Network National reporter Mike Garafolo. Garafolo also said that Eifert talked about "patience" and "trusting the process."

On Monday, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said that the 26-year-old is "close" to returning, according to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson. Eifert has been declared inactive so far this season. He broke out last season with 13 touchdowns in 13 games on an explosive Bengals offense.

If you drafted Eifert in the later rounds of your fantasy draft, this is very encouraging news. Be ready for a snap-count type return from the Notre Dame product.

"Lewis did say when Eifert does come back, he won't play a full game and is going to play a partial amount of snaps," Hobson wrote for Bengals.com.

After the Bengals host the Miami Dolphins for Thursday Night Football, it travels to face the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots. The Bengals have home contests against the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins before its Week 9 bye.
