Free-agent running back C.J. Spiller is looking to ignite his career and provide a spark for the Green Bay Packers' ground attack.

Spiller paid a visit to the Packers on Tuesday, according to a report by ESPN. The 29-year-old, who was cut by the New Orleans Saints last week, could be used as a change-of-pace back behind bruising Eddie Lacy.

Veteran backup James Starks has rushed for just 10 yards on 11 carries after signing a two-year, $6 million contract in the offseason.

Green Bay has an available roster spot after recently waiving running back Jhurell Pressley. The Packers ranked 30th in the NFL in total offense and are averaging 89.0 rushing yards per game this season, which is 19th-best in the league.

Spiller has been unable to regain the form following his breakout season with the Buffalo Bills in 2012. The ninth overall pick of the 2010 draft, Spiller averaged 6.0 yards per carry during that season and rushed for 1,244 yards and caught 43 passes for 459 yards.

Signed to a four-year, $16 million deal in 2015, Spiller played in 13 games, including two starts, for the Saints last season. He rushed 36 times for 112 yards and caught 34 passes for 239 yards.
