LANDOVER, Md., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Matt Jones, who recently suffered an AC sprain, began his week sporting a non-contact jersey at practice.

On Wednesday he played without the yellow jersey, according to Rich Tandler of CSN Mid Atlantic.

Jones contends that he "feels awesome" this week and expects to play Monday, when the Redskins face the Pittsburgh Steelers Sept. 12 in Landover.

The 23-year-old is locked in as the top running back in Washington's watered-down backfield of Rob Kelley and Chris Thompson.

Jones had moments of brilliance last season, stealing carries from veteran Alfred Morris. He had 794 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns in 13 games, but his four fumbles caused concern.

For fantasy football's sake, Jones ranks as a low-end RB2 or a dicey flex option for his Week 1 match-up.
