The Atlanta Falcons released Durant in February. He had 82 tackles and started 12 games last season. The 30-year-old had 73 tackles in 12 starts for the Cowboys before bolting for Atlanta. Durant signed a three-year deal with the Falcons before last season and had a base salary of $1.75 million in 2016.

Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain is currently suspended for 10 games this season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He was suspended for the first four games of last season for the same reason.
