CHICAGO, April 13 (UPI) -- John Fox assembled his new Chicago Bears team for the first time Monday minus, arguably, the entire offense from last season.
Last year, Matt Forte was on the field for 92.1 percent of the Bears' offensive snaps, but he was nowhere to be found at Halas Hall, according to the Chicago Tribune. The Bears were also without stud wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who was traded to the New York Jets this offseason.
Forte and Marshall combined for 18 touchdowns, 161 receptions, and 2,567 all-purpose yards in 2014.
Forte, 29, informed the team he would be missing the voluntary workout. The pro bowl running back is in the final year of his contract and will make $8.2 million this season. Forte also skipped workouts and minicamp in 2012 before receiving his current four-year, $30.4 million contract.
Forte later posted a photo on his Instagram account, featuring him standing in a gym wearing workout gear. He also posted a tweet telling everyone to "relax."
Relax everybody... It's called voluntary W/O for a reason. I've always been there especially when it counts!
