Dez Bryant claims Cowboys lack dedication

By Alex Butler

DALLAS, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- With the Dallas Cowboys leaning toward giving star wide receiver Dez Bryant the franchise tag, emotions are big in Texas.

Bryant responded to a tweet Tuesday that praised him for being dedicated to his team, the 2015 free agent said, "I wish They felt the same way but it's cool.. It's #business."

If Bryant were to be franchise tagged, he would make around $13 million in 2015.

"Well, he's not feeling the right vibes then," Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones told ESPN Dallas. "We feel strongly about him. We worked hard to do a long-term deal with him, and we'll continue to work hard at it. If we don't get one, then [the franchise tag] just shows him how much we care about him [that] we don't want to expose him."

The Cowboys could put Bryant on a franchise tag deal starting Monday and must choose if they want to franchise Bryant by March 2.

Bryant had 88 receptions for 1,320 yards and had a Cowboys record 16 touchdown receptions last season.

"If the deal goes through, Bryant would "probably not participate in off-season" team activities, according to Ed Werder.

In January, owner Jerry Jones said it will be difficult to sign both DeMarco Murray and Bryant.

"It's going to be a challenge," Jones told Fox Sports. "Is it financially reasonable? No. Is it possible? Yes. But if you just looked at it from dollars and cents, it probably doesn't look reasonable. You have to figure out how you get there, but at the end of the day you realize it's going to be costly to have both of those players."
