Philadelphia 76ers forward Joel Embiid is out indefinitely with swelling in his injured left knee.

The team announced Embiid didn't practice Monday and is scheduled for more tests. He has missed the last five games.

From the team's official Twitter feed: "Embiid did not take part in shootaround after (swelling) in left knee. MRI today. Listed out indefinitely."

That announcement comes on the heels of general manager Bryan Colangelo declaring 2016 No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons out for the season last week. Simmons had a procedure to promote healing in his injured foot, the 76ers said Monday via Twitter:

"Simmons minor foot procedure to stimulate bone growth, accelerate healing. Likely to resume training by end of week."

Without Embiid and Simmons, and having traded Nerlens Noel to the Dallas Mavericks at the deadline last Thursday, the 76ers are 4-6 in their last 10 games and 22-36 overall.
