Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Former Miami Heat franchise player Dwyane Wade wants to age like a fine wine so much, that he actually has his own signature blend.

It was a picture of that fine wine, along with a snarky Twitter comment, that started a brief quarrel with a Miami Herald reporter Thursday.

The Herald's Greg Cote posted a photo of the 2014 wine on Wednesday.

"Was given bottle of Dwyane Wade wine & we're about to taste," Cote wrote. "It's a 2014 so I guess we're toasting last year of his prime. Ouch. Too soon?"

Wade turned down a two-year $40 million deal from the Heat this offseason. He is due $23.2 million from the Chicago Bulls this season and has a $23.8 million player option in 2017. The 12-time All-Star and three-time NBA champion is averaging 18.9 points per game, the fewest since his rookie year.

"Be prepared for my comeback sir," Wade tweeted Cote Thursday. "Don't get in your feelings."

Cote was quick to backtrack on the jab. He wrote in his blog that the tweet was "admittedly snarky."

"Dwyane didn't like it," Cote wrote. "His NBA prime was defined by greatness. He still is very good, but very good isn't great. From a basketball standpoint, I'll defend that Tweet all day. But from a personal standpoint? The Tweet was a bit mean-spirited, which I don't like to be."

Cote's last tweet on the matter complimented the wine.

"Love @DwyaneWade & always been big supporter as he knows," Cote tweeted. "Just havin' a lil' fun. Very nice wine btw. Blend, but w/ mouthfeel of smooth cab."

Wade had fun with his mentions, as Twitter users defended him with crying Jordan memes and more.
