The New Orleans Pelicans announced Thursday that veteran forward Dante Cunningham will miss the next four to six weeks with a fractured right fibula.

Cunningham was injured during the second quarter of Wednesday's 117-96 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The team initially said he had a bruised knee but the official injury is a proximal fibula fracture.

The 29-year-old is averaging 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 15 games. He has started 10 games this season and also is shooting 41 percent from 3-point range while averaging 23.5 minutes.

Cunningham is in his third season with the Pelicans. In 527 regular season games with the Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota and New Orleans, Cunningham has averages of six points and 3.7 rebounds.

The Hornets have won four straight heading into Friday's game at Portland.

Solomon Hill could return to the starting lineup. He was replaced by Cunningham as a starter after the Pelicans began the season with eight straight losses.
