Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Retired baseball star Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez have been working up a sweat lately with couples workouts. The famous duo has appeared in several Instagram posts over the last week, bringing in the New Year with a new regimen.

"Coming in hottt," Lopez wrote for the caption on an Instagram post Monday. "#2018 #feelingmotivated #letsmakethisthebestyearyet #ilovenewbeginnings #getbettereveryday #secondact."
The photo featured the 48-year-old entertainer running up some stadium stairs. Lopez also included a rocket ship emoji in the caption, for good measure.
The 42-year-old Rodriguez began his series of workout posts Sunday.
"2018, here we come," Rodriguez wrote as the caption for a video featuring himself running up stadium stairs. That footage also showed Rodriguez and Lopez doing squats, jumping rope and planking on medicine balls. They also did some resistance workouts, burpees, pull-ups, lunges and more.
Rodriguez posted another video Monday from a track in Los Angeles.
"Hey, what's up everybody? This is always my favorite time of the year, especially when I played," he said in the clip. "As you close one year, and open another."
"Five or six weeks away from when pitchers and catchers, inside of 12 weeks for your first at-bat of the major league season. This is the time of the year you start preparing mentally, physically, spiritually, to play 200 games in 232 days. It is an absolute marathon."

Rodriguez retired in 2016 after 23 seasons in Major League Baseball. He played in 22 seasons, as he was suspended for the 2014 campaign for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing drugs.
The three-time MVP, World Series champion and 14-time All-Star made more than $400 million in salary during his decorated pro baseball tenure.
