New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard makes 'Game of Thrones' cameo

Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Noah Syndergaard has a devastating fastball, but Game of Thrones fans got a peak at his spear throw in Sunday's episode.

If you blinked, you might have missed it. But the 6-foot-6 Texan was there in all his glory, standing on the battlefield, lobbing the sharp weapon toward his Dothraki foe.

The New York Mets pitcher made the appearance about 41 minutes into the fourth episode of Season 7, titled: The Spoils of War.

Syndergaard was fighting as a general on what appeared to be the losing side of the battle against the "Mother of Dragons" Daenerys Targaryen and her formidable army.

While Syndergaard is usually on the mound tossing flames, he spent the episode avoiding the fire-breathing flying beasts. Syndergaard stood strongly with Cercei Lannister's army. His strong throw hit a horse from the rival side.

After the episode aired, Syndergaard spoke about his experience. The scenes from the episode were filmed in Spain months ago.

"To my sides defense...they had a FRICKEN DRAGON!!! At least I didn't throw behind him," Syndergaard tweeted Sunday.

He also made some dated music references.

"Take that you mean Dothraki. #shottotheheart #andyouretoblame," Syndergaard tweeted as a response to a clip from his cameo.

Syndergaard hasn't pitched for the Mets since April 30, when he partially tore his lat muscle.

In November, Syndergaard posted a photo from the Game of Thrones set in Caceres, Spain.

"It's a dream come true. I think it's the greatest TV show of all time, so just to be able to say I was in Game of Thrones is an unbelievable feeling," Syndergaard told Sports Illustrated in April.

Syndergaard took his parents to the filming, which lasted one day.

"Thor" isn't expected to begin throwing a bullpen session for about two weeks, according to MLB.com.
