March 3 (UPI) -- New York Mets prospect Tim Tebow has a diverse background.

The former NFL quarterback was born in the Philippines, before starring at the University of Florida and getting drafted into the NFL. He then jumped from city to city, looking to anchor down as a starting gunslinger. Since his short-lived professional football career, Tebow has turned his effort to making it as a Major League Baseball player.

But sports have never been what Tebow wants his life to be about. Among his big dreams is the idea of adoption.

Tebow doesn't have a goal of adopting just one child, but seven very specific children.

"You know what I think would be awesome? If I could adopt a kid from every continent," Tebow told People's Steve Helling. "I think that would be a pretty cool goal. I want to sit around the dinner table ever night and see kids from Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, right here in the States. How cool would that be? It's one of my favorite things to dream about."

The 29-year-old SEC Network television commentator is currently in Port St. Lucie Florida for Spring Training with the Mets.

In February, Tebow's foundation had its third Night to Shine event. The event is a worldwide prom for people with special needs. The Night to Shine honored more than 75,000 people with disabilities.

"At the end of the day, I know that's not why I'm here...it's not my biggest purpose, it's not my biggest calling," Tebow told reporters when asked about baseball as a priority in his life. "It's not how I want to be known in my life."

"I want my life to be so much more than that. I want to be someone that was known for bringing faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need."

"And that is something that is a life calling for me so it's so much bigger than sports."

Tebow is currently single.
