The Baltimore Orioles and outfielder Mark Trumbo are nearing agreement on a three-year deal worth between $35 to $40 million, according to multiple published reports Thursday.

Trumbo led the majors with 47 homers last season but there wasn't a high amount of interest in his services on the free-agent market. He made $9.15 million last season when he knocked in a career-best 108 RBIs and was an All-Star for the second time in his six-year career.

Trumbo batted .256 in 159 games for the Orioles and struck out 170 times, second most in his career.

Trumbo clubbed 95 homers in his first three big-league seasons with the Los Angeles Angels. But he had a poor season in 2014 for the Arizona Diamondbacks and again struggled in 2015 while splitting time between the Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners.

The 31-year-old has a career batting average of .251 with 178 homers and 517 RBIs.
